1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to CrestaX UI ("Service," "Platform," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our web-based muon transport physics simulation platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Geoptic.

2. Description of Service

CrestaX UI provides a browser-based interface for configuring, running, and analyzing muon transport physics simulations using the CRESTA framework, Geant4, ROOT, and geopticsim. Our Service includes:

• Simulation configuration and job submission
• Real-time job monitoring and queue management
• Results storage and download capabilities
• Template management and batch processing
• Credit-based usage system

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Account Creation

To use the Service, you must create an account using either:

• Email authentication (magic link)
• Google OAuth

You agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep this information up to date.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

3.3 Account Restrictions

You must be at least 13 years old to use this Service. One person or entity may not maintain multiple accounts without our permission.

4. Credits and Payments

4.1 Credit System

The Service operates on a credit-based system. Running simulations consumes credits based on computational resources used. Credit costs are displayed before job submission.

4.2 Purchasing Credits

• Credits can be purchased through our payment system powered by Stripe
• All payments are processed securely through Stripe
• Pricing is displayed in USD and subject to change with notice
• Credits are non-refundable except as required by law

4.3 Credit Expiration

Purchased credits do not expire as long as your account remains active. If your account is inactive for more than 12 months, we reserve the right to expire unused credits.

4.4 Refund Policy

Refunds for credit purchases are generally not provided. However, we may issue refunds at our discretion in cases of:

• Service errors that caused incorrect credit deductions
• Technical failures that prevented simulation completion
• Billing errors

5. Acceptable Use Policy

5.1 Permitted Use

You may use the Service for:

• Academic research and education
• Commercial research and development
• Scientific simulation and analysis
• Any lawful purpose related to physics simulation

5.2 Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
• Use the Service to transmit malware or malicious code
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Abuse the credit system or attempt to manipulate pricing
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data without permission
• Share your account credentials with others
• Use the Service for cryptocurrency mining or similar resource-intensive non-simulation tasks
• Submit simulations containing illegal, harmful, or offensive content

6. Intellectual Property Rights

You retain all intellectual property rights to your simulation inputs, configurations, and results. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to:

• Store and process your data to provide the Service
• Create backups and ensure data redundancy
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns (anonymized)

6.2 Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including its interface, features, and underlying code, is owned by Geoptic and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service
• Remove any copyright or proprietary notices
• Use our trademarks without written permission

6.3 Third-Party Software

The Service incorporates open-source software (CRESTA, Geant4, ROOT, geopticsim) subject to their respective licenses. Use of these components is governed by their original license terms.

7. Service Availability and Modifications

7.1 Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Specific response times or throughput
• Permanent storage of your data (you should maintain backups)

7.2 Maintenance and Downtime

We may perform scheduled maintenance that temporarily interrupts service. We will provide advance notice when possible. Emergency maintenance may occur without notice.

7.3 Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes.

8. Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our data collection and use practices are described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

• Merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
• Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of simulation results
• Security or freedom from viruses or other harmful components

9.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GEOPTIC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
• Service interruptions or data loss
• Errors in simulation results or calculations
• Actions taken based on simulation results

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9.3 Simulation Results Disclaimer

Simulation results are computational models and approximations. You are responsible for validating results and determining their suitability for your purposes. We make no guarantees about the accuracy or reliability of simulation outputs.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Geoptic, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Your simulation data or results

11. Termination

11.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature (when available). Termination does not entitle you to a refund of unused credits.

11.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms
• You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
• Your account poses a security risk
• Required by law

11.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. We may delete your data according to our data retention policies. You remain liable for any outstanding payments.

12. Dispute Resolution

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where Geoptic is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12.2 Dispute Resolution Process

Before filing a legal claim, you agree to attempt to resolve disputes through:

1. Informal negotiation by contacting us directly
2. Mediation if informal resolution fails

12.3 Arbitration

If disputes cannot be resolved through negotiation or mediation, they shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by law.

13. General Provisions

13.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Geoptic regarding the Service.

13.2 Amendments

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

13.3 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

13.4 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

13.5 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.

13.6 Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, or infrastructure failures.
